When a young Johan Helmich Roman left Sweden for London in 1715, he was but one of many Swedes to seek their fortune in foreign lands. While Roman later returned north, Johan Agrell did not. Having travelled extensively, he successfully ended his days as Kapellmeister in the German city of Nuremberg. Others, like Johan Wikmanson, spent most of their lives on Scandinavian soil.
